Tuesday night, Julia Shapiro made her way back to Seattle to perform at Fremont Abbey Arts Center. Shapiro has been on tour promoting her June album, Perfect Version. She played her album release show at Barboza the same month, and, now she’s back in town with Australian urban folk musician Darren Hanlon by her side.

Julia Shapiro opens her set with the acoustic guitar to fit the mood of the intimate Fremont Abbey.
Shapiro's songs take the listener through a story, both when recorded and when performing live.
Starting her set solo, Shapiro gives the crowd a chance to really hear her incredible vocals.
Shapiro is joined on stage by her bassist, Sacha Maxim, and drummer, Gretchen Grimm, who fill the room with vibrations.
Despite having practiced together only a few times before the show, this group of talented musicians got the crowd to get up from their seats and sway along with the music.
Grimm, drummer and back-up vocals for Shapiro, focuses as she holds an upbeat rhythm.
Maxim rocks along with the beat of the music.
Darren Hanlon joins Shapiro to perform a song they wrote while touring the Australian Outback together.
Hanlon plays "The Kickstand Song," which was requested by a 4-year-old audience member.
Belting out another of his amusing songs, Hanlon makes the crowd both laugh and sing along.
Hanlon is an Australian artist who has been touring with Shapiro. Although they have differing styles, Hanlon's urban folk compliments Shapiro's indie rock very well.
