On July 1, 2021, Seattle live music reopened after 16 months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Electronic producer Chong the Nomad, pop artist Archie, and DJ and songwriter Slow Shudder performed to a sold-out Barboza. Check out our photo story below for the best moments.

Capitol Hill on a Thursday looked very much like it used to pre-pandemic. Barboza was sold out and Neumos was near capacity.

Slow Shudder is the alias of Miami-born and Seattle-based producer Amanda Mayo.

Slow Shudder released her latest single, "Postmodern Angst," in June 2021.

Throughout her set, Slow Shudder mixed originals and remixes.

 

 

Archie, formerly known as PSA, is a purely pop artist.

 

Archie gets a sip of water from a friend in the crowd.

She released four singles in 2020, including a Christmas track called "Nice List."

 

 

Chong the Nomad is an electronic dance music producer.

Her set focused on the visuals as much as the music. Each song was a multimedia piece with projections controlled by Chong.

Chong is well known for her harmonica. She started this track by talking about her mom's love of the harmonica.

 

 

As part of the visual portion of her set, she included childhood photos.

 

 

The crowd raises their hands and bounces as per Chong's request at the sold-out show.

 

 

Chong the Nomad in a moment of stillness. Throughout the evening, she flitted back and forth between her computer and the microphone.

Chong the Nomad's "screen saver." Throughout the set there were a number of design jokes. This one is a play on the symbols that used to flutter across your TV if you left your DVD player on.
