Low Hums, a psychedelic rock outfit out of Seattle, drops their fifth full-length album, Zzyzx, November 8th. An 11-track journey, the album weaves through space and time: spacey tracks like “Cosmic Fruit” travel beyond our atmosphere, whereas cool jams like “Last Days of The Summer” plant more firmly in the world we know. Named from a town in California where guitarist Miles Panto’s van once broke down, Zzyzx will take you for a ride through the California desert and beyond, riding behind Panto and frontman Jonas Haskins in the now-reupholstered van.
Unwritten host Andrey Psyche sat down with Haskins to discuss aliens, homelessness, and how to create the album you’ll write in five years today. Don’t forget to stay tuned for Psyche and Haskins’s improv tune at the end of the podcast, now titled “Jalapeño Peppers in The Afternoon,” serendipitously recorded in another van: Psyche’s.
