Travis Thompson is back with a new visual to “God’s Favorite,” as he gears up to drop his next album, Reckless Endangerment, on September 20th. Thompson really snaps on this one. He strays from his style of past projects, which were far more chill compared to this upbeat, sped-up flow.

Thompson really doesn’t let up as he confidently sings, “I feel like God’s favorite.” The concept for this video is super dope, starting off with Jesus Christ — played by Bonne Vejou Amores Dorrell — taking a “personal day” to kick it with his homies (Thomspon and friends) as they go around the town sipping 40s, getting faded in a limo, and even getting Christ a tattoo. Definitely a music video worth watching, “God’s Favorite” stands out with the creative direction it takes, touching on religion with a comedic approach.

My favorite part of this song is the second verse. The iteration on it is crazy: “lost weight / I make that cost change / top rate / throw in that Phosphate / high taste / I make that broad fame / walk straight.” Thompson goes from bar to bar, giving the vocals their own unique rhythm as he rips over the beat.

Make sure to keep an eye out for Reckless Endangerment, and catch Thompson live at the Showbox the same day.
