Oooooh that’s Souf Souf! Soufend rap group Souf Souf, made up of rappers G-Baby and Shotta Pistol, bring us their new single, “Sleep Tonight,” produced by GaryVsGary and directed by El On the Cam of Town Entertainment. Souf Souf drops this new single as they’re gearing up to release their debut, self-titled EP on August 23rd.
I had the chance to catch their performance at the Soufend Art Show, and you know you’re building a movement when the whole crowd is singing along. “Sleep Tonight” is another Soufend party anthem that has you giggin, popping that ass, or turning up. The chorus sings, “I cannot sleep at night / I need my drugs / and I’m going deep tonight / she finna run.” The whole song is barred up from beginning to end and is so catchy I ran it back at least five times tonight alone.
The video switches back and forth between scenes with beautiful freeze frame transitions from Souf Souf’s Soufend Art Show performance and partying. The production’s melody overall is pretty simple, overlaid with some powerful 808s that really give it that energy. Sometimes simplicity is the answer, and this track is proof. “Sleep Tonight” is another fun party song that really gets you going. It could be added to your daily rotation no matter if you’re getting ready for the club or not.
