Ellis Prescott, a multi-talented artist out of Seattle, has taken a break from being behind the camera to get behind the mic. Releasing his debut 10 track album, In Love with Heartbreak, on February 14th, fitting to the date, he discusses love and the pain that comes with it. Illuminating the male perspective of romance, he shows us chivalry isn’t dead.

In Love with Heartbreak is everything authentic r&b is missing today. Songs such as “Love Fever,” which features local artist Parisalexa, and “Made for You” make you remember what it feels like to be truly loved, instead of just another side chick.

“Made for You” starts with the phrase, “if you don’t know love, baby, I’ll show you a thing or two.” Floating on a smooth instrumental, you feel at ease, and it’s easy to fall deep into these words. Prescott paints more than lust, furthering his prince charming lyricism with lines like “girl, you’re my treasure.” For those who might be lovelorn, this track will not only have you running back to your ex but also trying to find a new love — just so you can have someone to sing this song to.

In the mist of these new flames, the listener might be captured in the heat of “Love Fever.” Prescott and Parisalexa make for a captivating duet as their melodic tones enmesh into each other. As they sing about the pain of running back to the same love, the hook, “can’t keep from falling in love,” rings, and you begin to reminisce until the guitar solo brings you back to reality. Recalling that pain of love lost and regained, this song will make you want to do it all over again.

The cohesive theme and sound of this album is precise and relatable. Prescott conveys a carefully crafted image for himself and his music, showing men and women a thing or two about love.
