On Thursday night, Nectar Lounge hosted an array of electronic artists. Lusine, a local producer, headlined the night with his danciest tunes. Portland’s Natasha Kmeto brought the heat before Lusine, and local acts Vision Field and Jensen rounded out the lineup. Boundless Northwest produced the event in collaboration with Nectar.
Jensen starts out the night.
Jensen said he usually spins house music, but he played downtempo electronica for this show.
Jensen also played between the other bands's sets, keeping the good grooves going.
Vision Field took the stage next.
Vision Field consisted of two members this evening: Michael Remington (left) and James Kasinger on drums.
Kasinger added excellent energy and dynamism to the set.
...not to mention tight beats and an overall thickness to the sound.
Vision Field has performed mainly in Bellingham and Seattle since its inception.
Vision Field's music shifted seamlessly from song to song for the first 30 minutes of its set.
The music shifts and live performance aspects were controlled by Remington using a Novation Launchpad and an M-Audio keyboard.
Vison Field's latest track, "Arrive," came out in March 2017.
The sounds utilized were impeccably mixed on Nectar's sound system.
Last song, and the set is winding down.
Next up is Natasha Kmeto.
Kmeto warned us at the beginning of the set that much of her recent songwriting was aided by a breakup.
Somehow, Kmeto's breakups help produce extremely dancable music.
By Kmeto's set, the room was really getting packed.
Kmeto's style is influenced by R&B, soul, and dance music.
Kmeto picked up the bass for several songs.
Kmeto hails from Portland, OR.
She's undertaken multiple national tours and has shared the stage with major acts like Four Tet and Nightmares on Wax.
Kmeto is currently working on a new EP.
She used an MPC controller and Korg Minilogue to craft her sounds onstage.
Kmeto's voice soared on hits like "I Thought You Had a Boyfriend."
Kmeto's latest album is 2015's Inevitable.
Kmeto finishes strong.
Jensen is back up, keeping the party rolling.
Jensen listens to his beats.
Lusine takes the stage.
Lusine is the project of Texas-born but Seattle-based producer Jeff Mcllwain.
Mcllwain was joined by Trent Moorman on drums.
Lusine's latest album, Sensorimotor, was released in 2017.
Nectar was completely packed by the time Lusine took the stage.
Although some of Lusine's discography could be considered ambient, dance music was on the menu for the evening.
Moorman used shakers and different kinds of drum sticks to add textural elements to the overall sound.
Lusine undertook a European tour in 2018.
Lusine also performed at 2018's Upstream Festival in Seattle's Pioneer Square.
Lusine is described as "effortlessly blurring the lines between techno, electro-pop and experimental composition."
The finale.
