Liv continues to represent for black women empowerment as she drops her new EP, Black Girl Unbothered. This seductive EP presents a glimpse into the smooth mind of a woman who is happy, confident, and living her life to the fullest. With Black Girl Unbothered, Liv changes the societal perspective of the black woman as she speaks on true bliss and happiness.

Black Girl Unbothered unveils tracks that blend different styles into a combination of fluid heat. Tracks like “Date Night” — and, later, “Euphoria” — present individuality and debonair distinction that work to mix different levels of elation. “Date Night,” featuring MaxDope and produced by Soultanz, is one of my favorite songs of the release, as she dives into the stages of a date that go beyond a night cap. Seducing her date with a sultry “oooo, i, i ,i,” Liv prepares them for a night they’ll remember. The next track, interlude “Nov 24th,” presents a complete picture of what that date night becomes. As she loops the hook, “cause I love you, baby,” she expresses what that night can lead to and why her satisfaction is a climactic feeling you won’t want to let go of. The EP matches this same vibe as you listen all the way through until the last track, “Euphoria.”

Before getting there, though, Liv intertwines another interlude that presents trust in her word. She raps, “eating off my daddy’s last name / and if it cost to be the boss, well n***a, / you owe me change” in “Social Nomad.” The song gives old school vibes as she spits nothing but queen talk, letting her listener know who she is and what she’s about. She presents the true essence of hip hop as she tags her blueprint into “Social Nomad.”

Ending her EP with “Euphoria,” featuring Nobi, changes the sultry sound of the EP into an uplifting dance track. Liv sends listeners to a state of exultation, relishing in the highs of love. This song feels like bliss as you begin to float in the lyrics: “so high, so high, so high.” We’re taken back to that climatic high of “Date Night” as we make our way down to “Euphoria.”

The entirety of the EP makes you feel elation and entices the audience to want to keep listening as Liv gives us her joyous aura in Black Girl Unbothered. I suggest listening to this with a glass of red wine as you take in the energy of this EP. Erase the worries of the day, and let the feeling of black girl happiness seep into your pores.
